Last week we finished the China leg of the World History World Tour, and all hell broke loose in the world when the American Empire crashed into its end game.
Israel attacked Iran. Iran struck back. The USA withdrew from diplomatic negotiations with Russia. The end of the war in Ukraine looked farther away. Trump warned Tehran to evacuate and sent warships and bombers. American nationalists screamed betrayal. American imperialists shuddered with bloodlust, but had they taken on too much. Fears of a nuclear strike spiked. Flashing red lights of a catastrophic world war strobed even this calm historian into a paralysis of anxiety.
There is no deep dive this week, but instead I offer you invitations to three discussions with me.
