My latest book, From the Burning Archive: Essays and Fragments 2015-2021 is now published. You can buy this collection as a print or e-book at Amazon and other online retailers. If you buy at Amazon you can use this affiliate link and help me out that tiny little bit more.
I included an excerpt from the introductory essay on the substack a few weeks back. It described the journey The Burning Archive took from dream to poem to blog to podcast, and then finally to book.
The Burning Archive is also the name for my podcast and now my YouTube channel.
The podcast began in April 2021, and yesterday I posted episode 77. This episode - For the Horde? Russian History and the Mongol Empire is part of a series that is re-examining Russian history, to free it of the ‘Black Legend’ that sees Russia as a benighted, despotic and cruel country. The full audio of this episode is included here for substack readers. But you could also visit your favourite podcast platform and follow/subscribe over there.
I am also posting my audio as simple videos at my new and growing YouTube channel. Please visit over there and help me achieve my goal of monetising this channel, and beginning to earn my living as an independent author, historian and content creator. I have grown to nearly 400 subscribers in last 3 weeks - so join the @theburningarchive channel and the conversation.
I am posting several types of content over there: history, culture, #booktube, #authortube, and geopolitics. One video I did on ‘Five Top History Books for Geopolitics” is approaching 5,000 views. Check it out.
I have returned from a brief beach holiday, and so skipped original content for all this big news on my author platform (and with your support, business) this week. I will be back next week with some more real world commentary.
