One core insight from history can help to understand many of the conflicts and debates about the future of the world today.

That insight is that the winds of change no longer fill the sails of the West. The currents of globalisation have changed, and the rest of the multipolar world is now sailing with the wind at its back. It does not mean that the West’s ship is sunk; but it does mean that the captains of the West need to adapt to the now prevailing conditions. If they do not, they may capsize in the eye of the new storm of globalisation, in which global change is no longer the same as Westernisation.

This presents a profound challenge for leaders and citizens of the West.

P.S. A few readers have suggested that I set up a tip jar, and I am in the process of doing so. If you want to support my writing and content creation, but are wary of contracts and ongoing subscriptions, then, until that Tip Jar is set up, you can give me a Super Thanks on any of the videos on my YouTube channel. See my little diagram below.
