I have been thinking over the Southern Summer about all the different writing and content creation I have been doing. And I am going to focus in on this newsletter and give it a new look and focus.
Each week I will let you in on some glimpses from the multipolar world of the Burning Archive. Perhaps together we can puzzle out what is going on in the world today, and how we can live mindfully and at peace amidst the turmoil?
Why don’t you join me?
I will let you know the highlight of what I have been reading or viewing or listening to, and why. Because curiosity may have killed the cat, but it energises me. And you?
I will provide a glimpse of major ideas on governing the unruly multipolar world. Because I learned so much during 33 years as a government official that can help others gain insight into this changing world. And I no longer need be silenced.
I will share some story from history that can help us reframe current events and use history to live mindfully in the present. Because ‘the past is not dead, the past is not even past.’
I will share some fragment from the vast global cultural treasures that inspired me during the week. Because the archive may be burning, but its treasures can still be saved from the flames by each one of us.
I will let you know what surprised me most this week. Because the greatest teacher is open awareness to the world as it is, not as we think it is.
And lastly I will let you know about my works-in-progress and published content - my books, my essays, my poetry, my podcast, my YouTube videos, my online courses. Because sharing my ideas on history, the multipolar world, books, writing and the ordinary (if scarce) virtues of governing well is how I make my living now.
Does that sound like the start of a friendship to you?
The newsletter will come out every Saturday morning (Eastern Australian time).
I will let you know soon the simple ways you can support me share my glimpses of this kaleidoscopic multipolar world.
In the mean time, why don’t you subscribe here, check out my YouTube channel, and share this newsletter with a friend.
Take care, and remember ‘what thou lovest well, shall not be reft from thee’ (Ezra Pound, Cantos).
